Selecting a Contractor
Ask These Questions Before Hiring a General Contractor
Are you working with a local contractor registered with the Secretary of State?
Not working with a licensed contractor is a sure way to end up in a bad situation. Many companies chase storms every year to try taking advantage of the opportunity to scam honest homeowners. Many of these companies will build low-quality roofs with no intention of sticking around to honor any warranty issues that may arise. You never want to do business with a company that isn’t invested in the community, your project, or most importantly of all, you. TBC has been licensed and performing quality work all over New Mexico since 1983!
Does your contractor carry insurance with coverage to protect you?
Make sure the company you hire has a legitimate insurance policy with at least a 2 million dollars general liability and 1 million dollars in workman's compensation. If your contractor isn’t insured, injuries, accidents, or property damages that occur during or after construction could result in serious liabilities for you as a property owner.
TBC General Contracting in Albuquerque carries insurance limits required by our commercial clients so you can rest assured that if something was to happen, you’re covered. Upon meeting with our project managers, you will be provided with our insurance certificate for added assurance.
Is your contractor highly rated and accredited by the Better Business Bureau?
The Better Business Bureau is a non-profit organization that provides a forum for customers to formalize complaints against businesses and arbitration services to resolve disputes. No company is perfect, but all companies should make efforts to resolve disputes with their clientele. If your contractor has a low rating or multiple complaints that went unresolved, it’s a pretty sure sign they don’t take customer satisfaction seriously. We proudly carry an A+ rating with the BBB. You can check out our profile with the BBB below.
What kind of warranty does your contractor offer?
Before selecting a contractor to commence work on your property, make sure they offer a warranty on both workmanship and materials, and ensure the terms and conditions satisfy your needs and give you peace of mind that your roof will last the length of the warranty. We offer 5-year standard warranties with an option for Golden Pledge or Platinum 25 year workmanship warranties.
